When the destructive pine beetle started attacking and killing the lodgepole pine trees in Colorado, Charise Buckley saw beauty where others saw waste. She established Beetlekill Blues not only to showcase her talents as a furniture designer and ASID-certified interior designer, but to do so through the use of pine beetle-kill wood salvage from the forests. Her passion for furniture started while she was working at a high-end furniture store in Shaker Heights, Ohio and was further refined when her clients needed certain pieces she couldn’t find, so she started designing them herself. Today she hand-selects the timbers, works with the mill, collaborates with the craftsmen and selects materials and finishes to best demonstrate the beauty of each and every tree. Charise has been involved with the pine beetle task force for 3 years and is a 25-year interior design veteran. Also NCIDQ certified, Charise operates the Beetlekill Blues showroom in Breckenridge, CO and has interior design offices in Breckenridge and Irvine, CA.
